REPORT ON SPEAKERS CORNER 02/05/2023

Speaker was Barry “Baz” Bardoe. Baz s[poke to 23 participants – 19 were members of Portland U3a.

“Baz” gave us a top level summary of Cyber Warfare; a concise talk and there was a Q & A Session. During this session “Baz” gave us some simple ideas that we can do to make ourselves better protected.

Scams are becoming more and more frequent each day.

SUGGESTIONS;

Don’t open unfamiliar websites and messages.

Don’t reply to unknown phone calls – if they are genuine calls they will leave a message,

Change passwords frequently

Cover up the camera on your camera or laptop

Use a notebook for your passwords. Have a second notebook stored in a relatives home in case of burglary.

Not recommended to have passwords stored on your computer.

Computer Protection is recommended. Eg; Norton. See our local computer man Tony for assistance.
